The Vincennes Urban Enterprise Association is proposing to work with the City Council on a loft development program to bring more housing to the downtown area. Dan Ravellette, Executive Director of the U-E-A says they would like to create a more visually appealing Vincennes by utilizing the downtown area.

Mayor Joe Yochum will ask the council to commit $50,000 a year for the next 4 years to the loft program and if they would approve the money will come out of the city’s EDIT fund. There is a $10,000 matching grant per loft if greater than 1,000 square feet. The UEA outlined in the proposal there is no limit to the number of units that one owner can request. If a resident is interested in buying a renovated loft, the application must be sent to the UEA. A sub committee will then review the application for approval. The Vincennes City Council is expected to vote on the proposal in the near future.
