Richard Noonan, 88 of Bicknell, Indiana left this life on January 3, 2016 at 11:07 a.m. in the hospice unit of Good Samaritan hospital with his daughter by his side.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 6 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel.  Friends may call prior to the service from 10:00-12:00. Burial will follow at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the All-Weather Firing Squad.  Those wishing to sign the guest book may do so at www.fredrickandson.com.
Richard was born December 14, 1927 to Eva Noonan Emmons and Lewis B. Noonan.  On November 29, 1947, Richard married the love of his life, LaVonda R. Gibson.
Richard served in World War II going into the Army on his 18th birthday in 1945.  He served our country until his honorable discharge June 20, 1947.  He later joined the Navy reserves.  Upon returning from the service, he worked for Coca Cola in Bicknell, both in the plant and driving a delivery truck.  He then worked for Peerless Pump in Indianapolis and the railroad before going to Prestolite, where he worked for 35 years and 8 months before retiring in 1984.
Throughout his life, Richard enjoyed carpentry as a hobby and remodeling projects.  He and LaVonda also wallpapered several homes in Bicknell to provide additional support for their families.
He was a lifetime member of the Elks, VFW and the French Club.  He and LaVonda enjoyed good times dancing and visiting with their many friends.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Richard Jr. and wife Mona of Bicknell, and Douglas of Edwardsport, one daughter, Callie and husband Kenneth Zak of Tupelo, MS.  He had eight grandchildren, Melissa (Noonan) Wright and husband Barry, Lawrenceburg, IN, Rachelle (Noonan) Hamilton and husband, Pat of Elizabeth, CO, Brent Noonan and wife Carrie of Sandborn, Alana Zak Owens and husband John of Cincinnati, OH, Jared Zak and wife , Erin of Saint Simons Island, GA, Casey Noonan of Evansville, Ryan Noonan of Alberque, NM, Bradley Noonan, Lawrenceville, IL and fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and five nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife LaVonda in November, 2008, his parents and his brother, Lewis “Bogy” Noonan.
