Connie S. McGavic, 69, passed away at 11:00 pm on January 2, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Connie was born on July 27, 1946 in Vincennes the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Unsworth) Cummins. She married Willard McGavic on December 29, 1962.
Connie was owner-operator of her own day care for many years. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington. She was a Deacon in the church, and a member of the Presbyterian Women. Connie loved cooking and loved doing her children and grandchildren’s flowers for dances and weddings. Her children, grandchildren and the children she cared for were her life and she would do anything for anybody.
Survivors include her husband, Willard McGavic of Vincennes; sons, Tim McGavic and his wife Twyla of Vincennes, Scott McGavic and his wife Melissa of Monroe City; daughter, Christina Mellenthin of Bullhead City, AZ; sisters, Sandy Blain and her husband Vernon of Wheatland, Janet Barrix and her husband Dale of Vincennes, Kathy Cummins of Vincennes; brother, Ron Cummins of Wheatland; grandchildren, Tiffany McGavic, Tyler McGavic, Destiny McGavic, Kierra Mellenthin, Tanner McGavic, Pierce Mellenthin, Ely Mellenthin, Nealey Mellenthin; one great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Weston Lavely. Connie was preceded in death by her parents one son, David McGavic and a nephew Tony Barrix.
Funeral services for Connie will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2016at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Rev. Cheryl Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Connie’s family from11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday.
