Representatives of  the Vincennes Boat Club signed an agreement  today  agreeing to vacate their clubhouse at Kimmel Park.

Although they have 30 days, the club says that after their event on Christmas Eve they expect to be  out of the building a few days after.

The city of  Vincennes is expected to deed Kimmell Park to VU.  VU has plans to put 2.5 million dollars in renovations into the park which includes tearing down the current boat club building.  Under the agreement, the city is offering the club a revolving loan fund loan to build a new facility at Pearl City.   VU will give the club 20 thousand dollars to pay off the loan once a new clubhouse is built.

Commodore of the Vincennes Boat Club Darin Foster says he sees this as a win win situation.

Mayor Joe Yochum says the next step is to get the  city council’s approval on the 28th of this month and the Board of Works approval after the first of the year.

Vice President of Financial service at Vincennes University Phil Rath says residents will start seeing changes to Kimmel Park immediately.

Rath says as soon as they have an official notification that the boat club has vacated the premises they will turn the utilities off and tear the building down.
