The Knox County Democratic Party will caucus on Saturday, December 19th to elect replacements for Knox County Treasurer, Vigo Township Trustee and an at-large seat on the County Council.

Democratic Party Chairwoman Sandy Stewart says precinct committeemen will caucus at Vincennes City Hall at 9 a.m. on the 19th. The Treasurer’s office and Vigo Township Trustee’s position became open following the results of the November General Election.

County Treasurer Sharon Duke won election to the Vincennes City Clerk-Treasurer’s office while Vigo Township Trustee Thomas Estabrook captured the Bicknell Mayoral race.

Stewart says they’ll also be looking to fill an at-large seat on the County Council after Terry Johnson notified her that he will be stepping effective December 31st.

At this time, Stewart says two persons have filed for two of the three vacant positions. County Recorder Brenda Hall is looking to step into the Treasurer’s office while Angie Goff has filed to succeed Estabrook as Vigo Township Trustee.

Stewart says candidates have up to 72 hours prior to the party’s caucus to announce their intention to run for one of the vacancies
