Christmas season getting into full swing

The annual Christmas Stroll and Parade of Lights is this coming weekend in Vincennes.

Friday from 5 to 8 enjoy refreshments at downtown stores, pictures with Santa will be available from 7:30 to 9:30 at Thursday Church on Main.  At 6:30 Helping His Hands will collect canned food during the parade.  The parade does start at 6:30.  Entry forms are still available at the Vincennes City website.

Saturday enjoy Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 at the Old Cathedral Parish.  At 9 join in seeing the the giant Christmas tree getting put up and decorating at Gimbel Corner at 2nd and Main.  The lighting of the tree will be at 6 that night.  There are carriage rides downtowns from 10 to 2:30.  Helping His Hands will present a live Nativity from 1 to 3.  3 to f there’s visits with Santa at Thursday Church.  There’s caroling at Gimbel Corner on Saturday night right after the tree lighting at 6.  Also be sure and donate unwrapped gifts for local kids and families.  Just put them under the treet after the lighting.  Helping His Hands will collect and distribute them.


 

The Spirit of Christmas will be alive and well tonight and tomorrow night in Odon.  Everyone is invited to visit the Odon Park for the Spirit of Christmas celebration.  New this year is a huge laser light show, telling the story of Christmas through music lights and much more.  Refreshments will be available both nights and the show will be from 6 to 9pm both nights.  The Odon Christmas parade of lights will also be held downtown tonight beginning at 6pm.


 

Washington’s Christmas parade for Saturday was postponed due to the weekend’s wet weather.

Daviess County’s Christmas Parade of Lights will be next Saturday along the regular city parade route starting at 6.  You can just show up and get in line with no pre-registration required.

There’ll be cash prizes awarded for best overall, best nonprofit, best commercial and best musical.  There are also trophies going to the winners. All entries have to be lighted accept for the musical entries.  Now, coming up this Thursday is the annual Christmas is in the Park at East Side Park.  There’s snacks and visits with Santa and carriage rides and more Thursday from 6 to 9.
