Billy F. Hawkins, 84, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday November 20, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born April 15, 1931 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Clifford Cleo and Irene Frances (Allen) Hawkins. On April 14, 1957 he married Fay Heath. She passed away April 17, 2015.
Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville where he served as an Elder, Trustee, and teacher. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War.
He is survived by a son: Bruce Hawkins and his wife Kammie of St. Joseph, IL, a daughter: Diane Volk and her husband Jim of Olney, IL, a brother: Clifford Hawkins, Jr of Lawrenceville, IL, four grandchildren: Jeremy Volk and his wife Laura, Erin Volk, Tatum Hawkins, Caleb Hawkins, and three great-grandchildren: Kylee, Levi, and Reina Volk.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in d eath by a brother: Tommy Jean Hawkins, and a sister: Ruth Green.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00pm at Central Christian Church in Lawrenceville, with burial to follow at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation is also Wednesday from 12 Noon until the service hour of 2:00pm.
Memorial donations may be given to the Central Christian Church.
