Lula Belle Thompson, age 78 of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 in Lawrenceville at the United Methodist Village-North Campus. She was born in St. Francisville on August 5, 1937 to William Edgar Holmes and his wife Mary Theodora (Young) Holmes.

Lula married C. Harold ‘Sonny” Thompson 61 years ago on April 21, 1954, and he survives.

She was a long-time member of Zion United Methodist Church and a loving homemaker to her family. Lula was a very good cook and took a lot of pride in taking care of her family and home.

Surviving family includes: her husband- C. Harold “Sonny” Thompson of rural Lawrenceville: her son- Johnnie Thompson and his wife Janet of Crestview, FL: 2 sisters- Daisy Hodges of Lawrenceville and Anna Ray of Bridgeport: three brothers- Harold Holmes and his wife Karen of Lawrenceville, Gerald Holmes of rural Lawrence County, and Junior Holmes and his wife Ann of rural Lawrenceville: two grandchildren: two great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents- William Edgar Holmes and Mary Holmes: two children in infancy: six brothers- Clifford, Robert, Richard, Paul, Donald, and David Holmes: and one sister- Hazel Holmes.

A funeral service will be held for Lula Belle Thompson at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
