Riley School renovations discussed

The Vincennes Community School Corporation continued their elementary school question and answer forum last evening (Wednesday night). All four elementary schools in the VCSC system are being renovated, but the focus was on Riley Elementary’s future plans. Riley is the newest elementary school, having been built in 1961. The building is in good shape and needs the least amount of work done. Vincennes Community School Corporation Superintendent Greg Parsley explains the internal renovations being proposed for Riley.

One of the main ideas hammered home by Parsley was that the buildings need to be designed to 21st century dynamics. Andy Myszak of Myszak and Palmer Architects really stressed the importance of technology in the classrooms and their proposed designs reflect that. The architects  also stated they want to make the elementary schools energy efficient. The classroom space of Riley will not change as the building is landlocked and there is simply no land available to make the building bigger. Parsley expects renovations to get underway as early as next summer.
