2nd Street Ribbon Cutting is slated for Friday

Vincennes City Officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony next Friday to dedicate the reopening of 2nd Street.

The project was put on the fast track to development last year under a program that allowed the city to exchange federal funding for state dollars. The exchange rate was 75-cents for every one dollar of federal funding the city received for the project.

2nd Street re-opened to traffic this week. In addition to repaving 2nd between Main and Hart Streets. New sidewalks were installed along with new street lighting and storm drainage sewers. Contractors were continuing to finish up work this week. Mayor Joe Yochum says there are some beautification items that will need to be completed in the spring but the majority of the work is completed.

The Ribbon Cutting ceremony is set for next Friday at 1 pm at Gimbel Corner. Officials with the Indiana Department of Transportation will be on hand to take part in the ceremony.
