The Vincennes Community School Corporation will host the 1st in a series of community forums tonight to discuss upgrades to the school corporation’s four elementary schools. The meeting will take place at 6 pm at Franklin Elementary school.

Superintendent Greg Parsley says the findings of a feasibility study by architects Myszak & Palmer will be discussed. It’s no secret that renovations are needed to at least three of the school buildings which were constructed in the early 19-hundreds.

Parsley says part of the goal is bring the buildings up to standards that will allow them to use more technology in the classrooms.

The price tag for the building improvements has been placed at 40-million dollars. Parsley says they have no plans to go outside their tax levy to finance the renovations. It is Parsley’s hope that if taxpayers are in agreement that work can proceed starting next year. He says the work will be done in phases. There maybe some displacement of students that will require portable classrooms or other facilities to be used while work is ongoing.
