Lawrenceville Mayor Don Wagner updated members of the city council last night on the status of the city’s finances.

Wagner says to date they’ve spent a little over 32-percent of the budget, thanks to department heads keeping a watchful eye on spending.

He added all of the city’s bank accounts are on the plus side and that’s led to a nest egg to spend on other projects.

Wagner added the city is also looking at upgrading some of its water and sewer lines as well.

In addition to the savings, Wagner says they were able to provide a raise for city workers in this year’s budget.

The Lawrenceville City Council last night approved the purchase of a new patrol car for the Police Department. The new 2015 Chevy comes with a complete police package and will cost the city just over 22-thousand, 500-dollars. Mayor Don Wagner says there will be an additional 4-thousand dollars in costs to equip the patrol car with lights, a roll cage and other accessories.. He says it should be on the streets by the end of a month. It replaces a 2002 Ford which had over 66-thousand miles on it. The Mayor indicated that they will sell the vehicle.
