Several local emergency agencies came together Thursday at Duke Energy to prepare for potential disaster.

Officials from local fire departments, EMS, both Knox and Daviess County Emergency Management agencies, Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Knox County Health Department all convened at Duke Energy Thursday morning to play out the scenario, involving a hazardous material leak.

Knox County EMA Director John Streeter says the planning for this event has been going on for quite some time.

All parties involved will continue to discuss improvements to their response and will be working together to implement those improvements.

Future emergency drills will also continue to be a part of the planning at Duke’s Edwardsport Plant, as well as at other locations in the local area.
