Harry M. “Red” Geer, age 95, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. He was born September 18, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of George and Anna (Plosser) Geer. He married Bernice E. Mosbacher on August 30, 1947.

Harry retired from Texaco Refinery in 1982, having worked as a drafting coordinator for 35 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lawrenceville. Harry served as alderman in Ward 4 for the City of Lawrenceville for 13 years, was a life time member of the Elks where he served as Exalted Rule in 1976 and was a life time member of the VFW and American Legion, serving as commander of the American Legion in 1950.

Harry was a veteran with the U.S. Army, having served in the South Pacific during WWII.

Preceding Harry in death were his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68years, Bernice Geer, of Lawrenceville; three nephews; and a brother-in-law, John Bennett of Florida. Also surviving are many friends, especially Harold Tucker, a Cub fan with Harry being a loyal Cardinal fan.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Endowment and Development Fund; Lawrenceville First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
