Superheroes of all shapes and sizes will be flocking to Gregg Park next month.

The Vincennes Parks Board last night approved a request by Pace Community Action Agency to sponsor a Superhero 5-K run on October 17th.

Pace Spokeswoman Tanya Bezy says there will also be a Family Fun Run. Bezy says participants are encouraged to come out dressed as their favorite Superhero.

The Family Fun Run is free, but there will be a 20-dollar registration fee for the actual timed run.

Registration forms are available at the Park and Recreation office or through Pace.

The event gets underway at 9 am.

In other business, Superintendent Steve Beaman told parks board members that they are in the process of closing Rainbow Beach and winterizing the new pool.

He says one of the sub-contractors who helped build the pool drained the water and pulled out all of the hoses in the pump house and gave them a through cleaning.

After spending three and a half million dollars to build a new pool, Beaman thought it was prudent that parks department staff should be shown the proper way to close the pool.
