The Vincennes Water Utilities has run into some unexpected costs related to levee improvements along the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park property.
Levee Superintendent Hunter Pinnell says a sprinkler system located inside the project area is going to have to be relocated.
Pinnell says there are a lot of electric valves and old copper piping that’s going to have to be replaced or re-routed in order to comply with standards set by the Army Corps of Engineers.
The project includes raising the South Lawn of Park by 3-feet.
The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission agreed to appropriate an additional 85-thousand dollars to assist with cost overruns related to the levee work.
The R-D-C to date has spent just over 1-point-1 million dollars for levee improvements.
