Benjamin T. Lumpkin, 81 of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday September 13, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

He was born December 13, 1933 in St. Louis, MO the son of Sylvester and Mae K. (Adams) Lumpkin.

He was a teacher at Washington Tech Institution in Washington, D.C. He was the proud founder and owner of Lump’s Que Carry Out in various locations. He served in the United Sates Air Force. He was a member of the St. James AME Church in Lawrenceville, IL. He has lived places such as Lawrenceville, IL, Washington DC, Los Angeles, CA and Whitesboro, NJ. He was an avid golfer, and was a member of the River City Golf Club in Evansville, IN.

He is survived by three daughters: Monique Davis and her husband Melvin of Jackson, MS, Stephanie Herndon and her husband Tony Sr. of Forestville, MD, Alexis Lyons and her husband Dion of Lanham, MD, a sister: Delores Lumpkin of Lawrenceville, IL, nine grandchildren: Shonneri Herndon, Melvin Davis Jr., James Davis, Charles Davis, Ava Davis, Benjamin Davis, Daniel Davis, Camille Lyons, and one great-grandchild: Kiyah Herndon-Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister.

As per his request, his body is being cremated.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date in Maryland.
