A Vincennes homeowner was injured in an early Friday morning fire.

City firefighters responded to a call at 210 McKenney Road around 5:30 Friday morning.

Vincennes Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff says the homeowner Don (Bar) Bahr reported the fire before being overcome by heat and smoke.

He says firefighters located Bahr and pulled him out of the burning home. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and later transported to an Indianapolis Hospital.

Pinkstaff says the fire started in a back bedroom after an oxygen tank exploded and quickly spread to the rest of the house. Damage is estimated at 70-thousand dollars.

An investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s office ruled the fire accidental. Bahr is listed in critical but stable condition.
