Bloomfield Speaker Controversey

Bloomfield School officials are apologizing for allowing a past registered sex offender to speak to middle and high school students.

In a letter addressing the issue, High School Principal David Dean says the school was introduced to Adam Ritz by the IHSAA and he’d been a speaker the past two summers at the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference.

Ritz spoke to the Bloomfield students last Thursday.  The Greene County Daily World reports that school superintendent Dan Sichting says that Ritz was taken off the sex offender list in 2014 and has since been a speaker at St. Jude Children’s Hospital and various schools and colleges across the US.

School Board members commented that a policy should be in place to better know the background of speakers that come to the school.
