Wendell Ray Lamb, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.
Wendell was born in Oaktown, Indiana on March 26, 1936 to the late Gilve and Thressa Lamb. Wendell was a member of Shaker Prairie Christian Church. He served in the United States Army, where he was a paratrooper and Army cook. Wendell was an owner and operator, driving trucks all of his life. He loved training Thoroughbred Horses, watching western movies, playing cards and his Boston Terriers.
Wendell is survived by his longtime companion, Cherie (Williams) Rittenberry and her daughter, Kim Wilson both of Evansville, IN; daughter, Carrie Fosdick (Steve) of Oaktown, IN; son, Shane Lamb (Tina) of Oaktown, IN; longtime friend and former wife, Marlene Lamb; grandchildren, Tandie Cottingham (Justin), Rance Fosdick (Autumn), Shelby and Shanson Lamb; great-grandchildren, Addie and Crew Fosdick, Renn, Kai and Jae Cunningham; sister-in-law, Avis Lamb; several nieces and nephews.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Donovan and Hazel Moore; brothers, Bob and Norman Lamb.
A visitation of Wendell’s life will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM (CST) on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 11:00 AM (EST) until service time on Friday at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Oaktown Chapel.
A celebration of Wendell’s life will be held at 1:00 PM (EST) on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes Oaktown Chapel, 100 West Main Street, Oaktown, IN 47561 with Rev. Kirk Langston officiating. Burial will follow at Shaker Prairie Cemetery.
