Vincennes Residents will have the opportunity to get rid of their unused or expired prescription drugs later this month.
The Vincennes Police Department along with the Drug Enforcement Administration will have a disposal site set-up at Vincennes Police Headquarters on Saturday, September 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Police Chief Dusty Luking says the initiative addresses a vital public safety and health issue. He says Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse.
Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses from prescription drugs.
Luking says the service is free and anonymous, no questions will be asked.
