Helping His Hands building a House of Hope

Helping His Hands, a non profit organization in Vincennes, has been working hard to provide relief to local families going through tough times. Helping His Hands is currently constructing a family homeless shelter to assist those in need. The homeless shelter, named House of Hope, can accommodate up to eight families at one time. The House of Hope is expected to be open by late fall, early winter and there will also be a nearby emergency shelter for families in urgent need. Both buildings will be located at 16 East Reel avenue.

Meanwhile, Helping His Hands is opening up a food depot on main street. The purpose of the depot is to help other smaller food pantries in southern Indiana that aren’t able to drive several hours to get food. This allows the smaller pantries to help more people than they have in the past.

Any patron can get involved with Helping His Hands, become a volunteer and donate their time or resources. Helping His Hands Director Scott Shipman explains the importance of volunteers and donations. The organization wouldn’t survive without it.

If interested in volunteering or donating, please go online to helpinghishands.com or stop by their 1107 Main Street office and pick up a volunteer form.
