Governor Mike Pence announced a move he says will ease caseloads for the Department of Child Services. The Governor says he has authorized 113 additional caseworkers to meet demand caused by more and more statewide cases.

The announcement comes as DCS is about to present its annual report to the State Budget Committee today (Friday). The Governor says they’ll begin to fill the roles immediately. He says the state has the authority and ability to fund and fill the jobs as soon as possible.

DCS Director, Mary Beth Bonaventura says the number of children entering into the DCS system has increased by 26 percent from just one year ago.
