Martha E. Spangle

Martha E. Spangle, 93, of Vincennes, passed away July 24, 2015, at the New Willow Manor.

Martha was a homemaker, and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was active in many civic organizations, including being a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and being a member of Tri Kappa for over 50 years. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Fortnightly Club. Martha had volunteered as a pink lady at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born March 10, 1922, in Bicknell, IN, she was the daughter of C.A. and Mildred (Jones) DeBerry. Her parents; her husband, Victor Spangle; her twin sister, Mary Ruthyne Vendes; and a grandchild preceded her.

Surviving are her children, Susan Kixmiller and her husband Marlin, of Vincennes, Barbara Madsen and her husband Craig, of Carmel, IN, John V. Spangle and his wife Priscilla, of Jackson, NJ, and Rebecca “Becky” Nowaskie and her husband, Tom, of Vincennes; a sister, Joella Satterthwaite of Tempe, AZ; eight grandchildren; and six great – grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 – 3:00 on Tuesday, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Dr. Kate Lambertson, will begin at 3:00 on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
