Vera June (Shorter) Jones, 92, Edwardsport, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the New Willow Manor. Vera was born December 6, 1922, in Lyons, IN, the daughter of Will and Ivy (Boruff) Shorter. She married Herbert S. Jones Sr. on June 21, 1941. She was a homemaker. Vera was a member of the Bicknell First Baptist Church and was in the church choir.
Vera is survived by her son, Sherwood Jones of Edwardsport; granddaughters, Tammy Powers and husband Ron of Bicknell and Billie Neighbors of Vincennes; great-grandchildren, Melinda Cotton and husband Kristopher of Lafayette, Richelle Wieling and husband Kyle of Nebo, KY, Justin Swope of Vincennes, Jessee Swope of Owensboro, Cheyenne Powers of Bicknell, Ty Powers of Bicknell, and James Swope of Owensboro; great-great granddaughter, Teegan Wieling of Nebo, KY; sister, Theda “Jeannie” Moreau, of California.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert on October 27, 1985; four brothers; and four sisters.
