Plans for the 4th in Vincennes are set

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is proud to announce the special events and activities that are scheduled to be included in this Saturday’s Fourth of July celebration!

Beginning at 2 o’ clock on Saturday afternoon, all streets being used for the parade will be blocked off. All motorists are asked to avoid driving in the area west of north second street and south of seminary street.

The Fourth of July parade is scheduled to begin at 6:00 that evening from the Second and Hart Street intersection traveling towards the corner of First and Main streets. This years parade includes 94 entries.

Following the conclusion of the parade, this year’s “Spirit of ’76” award winner Carroll Hamner will be honored in the Harmony Society at 111 North Second Street.

The annual fireworks display will be shot off from the Lincoln Memorial Bridge beginning at dusk.
